Insurance

This is primarily a private pay practice offering psychotherapy for individuals and couples. A limited number of clients using Aetna insurance are currently being accepted.

For private-pay clients, therapy is not subject to insurance company session limits, utilization reviews, or medical-necessity requirements. This allows greater flexibility to focus on clinically appropriate work, without treatment being shaped primarily by insurance guidelines.

Private pay also offers a higher level of privacy, as diagnoses and clinical information are not required to be submitted to an insurance company for reimbursement when services are paid directly by the client.

For clients using insurance, billing requires certain clinical information, including diagnosis and documentation supporting medical necessity. All records and documentation are maintained in accordance with California BBS requirements, HIPAA standards, and professional ethical guidelines.

Payments & Cancellation Policy

Payment is due in full at the time of service and is processed securely through the client portal. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, along with all major payment cards.

Appointments may be rescheduled at no charge with at least 24 hours notice. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time and missed appointments are charged the full session fee.

Out-of-network PPO superbills are available upon request. Clients are encouraged to verify out-of-network reimbursement eligibility directly with their insurance provider.

Under the No Surprises Act, health care providers must provide uninsured clients or those not using insurance with a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges for medical and mental health services, including psychotherapy. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate outlining the anticipated cost of services before scheduling or beginning treatment. If you receive a bill that is substantially higher than your Good Faith Estimate, you may have the right to dispute the charges. FAQs

What insurance do you accept?

I am out-of-network with most insurance companies, but accept clients with Aetna Insurance. Superbills are available at your request, which you may submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement as allowed by your insurance plan.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Secure telehealth appointments are available throughout California, in addition to in-person sessions in Mission Valley, San Diego.

Can I get a good faith estimate?

Yes, I provide a good faith estimate upon request before any service is performed.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, credit cards, HSA, FSA and most electronic payments.

What is a superbill?

A superbill is a detailed receipt that clients may submit to their insurance provider for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

How long are sessions?

Most individual and couples sessions are approximately 60 minutes unless otherwise discussed.
